In Seattle, tree removal permit requirements depend on the tree’s size, location, species, and whether the property is in an Environmentally Critical Area, shoreline area, or development site. Some small or non-regulated trees may not require a permit, while significant trees, exceptional trees, street trees, and trees connected to construction activity may require city review before removal.
Before removing a tree in Seattle, confirm whether the tree is regulated under Seattle’s tree protection rules. Helpful resources include our Seattle Tree Removal Permits Guide, Significant Trees Guide, and Seattle Arborist Reports Guide.

Yes. Sound Tree Care provides professional stump grinding for individual stumps, multiple-stump projects, and complete tree-removal sites. Depending on access and your landscaping plans, we can grind the stump and major surface roots below grade, remove excess grindings, backfill the area, and prepare the site for lawn restoration, landscaping, or replanting.
Cleanup options are clearly defined in your proposal and may include chipping branches, hauling logs and debris, raking the work area, and leaving the property in an orderly condition. Limited-cleanup and wood-retention options may also be available when clients prefer to keep usable logs, rounds, chips, or firewood.

Sound Tree Care may offer free wood chips, arborist mulch, logs, or wood rounds when suitable material is available from nearby tree projects. Availability, species, quantity, delivery location, and access requirements vary, and deliveries cannot usually be scheduled for an exact time or guaranteed in advance.
Wood chips are delivered in full or partial loads and may contain a natural mixture of leaves, twigs, bark, and chipped wood.
